On the 3rd of May Museum of Modern Art will open the exhibition called “The formula of happiness” by famous Azerbaijani artist Namig Mammadov.
Namig Mammadov Zahid oghlu was born on the 23rd of December in 1957 in Ganja. He lives and works in Baku.
In 1982 he graduated State Art College named after Azim Azimzadeh. In 1988 he was a graduate of the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts.
Since 1997 he has been a member of Azerbaijan Union of Artists. In 1982 Namig Mammadov began his creative activity by participation in the exhibition “Youth creative week” by two works: “Our garden” and “Gymnast”. Some of the artworks of Namig Mammadov are kept in state and private collections – in Museum of Modern Art (Baku), National Museum of Art (Baku), Turksoy Gallery (Ankara), Center of Islamic Culture ( Moscow), in Norway, Denmark, USA, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Great Britain etc.
The artist is a participant of regional and international exhibitions.
In 1990-1991 he participated in Azerbaijani artists’ exhibitions dedicated to “the Tragedy of 20th January” representing the works “The dance of war”, “Refugees” etc.
In 1997 and 2004 he was a participant of personal exhibition in Oslo,Norway. In 2000 –personal exhibition in Vajiha Samadova Exhibition Hall of Azerbaijani Artists Union. In 2001 the artist took part in “Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan” wall painting symposium. In 2003- personal exhibition “the Albanian Oratorio” in Azerbaijani Artists Union Art Hall in Baku.
In 1997-2001 – the participant of international symposiums in Sheki city. In 2007 – the personal exhibition in ?openhagen, Denmark. In 2008 – the participant of the symposium “Turksoy” in Turkey. In 2001-2006 ?he was a head of Azerbaijani State Academy of Fine Arts, Painting Department, Associate Professor.
Many works by Namig Mamadov are marked with a deep feeling of sacrament, though the depiction itself does not contain any direct symbols. The artist is full of strength and creative ideas. Who knows what new decisions in forms and ideas will appear while he is wandering in search of the formula of happiness in the fathomless world called painting? One thing we can say with certainty: this process is unstoppable.
The works of the artist will be presented by graphics and painting at this exhibition. There is a cycle of pastels called “The Prayer” among the works of the artist. The volumetric figures manifest slowly and endlessly following one after another , accompanying the artist through all his life like guardian angels.
The TV programs are dedicated to the creativity of the artist shoot Azerbaijani State Television(1998, 2004, 2006, 2008).
