YARAT Contemporary Art presents Neither War, Nor Peace exhibition within the framework of ARTIM Project

Neither War, Nor Peace reveals the views of Azerbaijani artists on Karabakh conflict. Artists dealing with fact of existence of people living in a state of “neither war, nor peace”, showing different sides of their lives, aiming to draw public attention to this problem. Local residents, for whom daily shootings have already become an integral part of life, do not leave their native lands at the cost of their lives. As a result of the conflictm lasting for 26 years civilians of both sides have been suffering miserably.

Frozen Conflict, Missing in Karabakh, Edge and Veteran photo series by photographer Sitara Ibrahimova depicts traces of war and people who still living in the state of war.

Sound installation Top 20 by Elturan Mammadov represents 20 most popular music tracks among the residents of Karabakh zone, which can be deemed as “getaway from reality”. Flag is yet another work by artist which highlights importance of flag in spiritual elevation of citizens and most particularly tells about strengthening of patriotic moods during the April War .

Refugees series by Elnur Babaev tells about settlement of refugees from Karabakh in Sabirabad during 90s. Documentary photographs depict links to historical events, as well as living conditions and infrastructure, and situation in the country as whole during that time.

Fog of War photo series by Ilkin Huseynov presents portraits of people living in war regions.

Khari-bulbul installation by Erkin Alekperli is an allegorical embodiment of a ruined city, broken lives and broken dreams through a flower which is a symbol of Karabakh.

Who is to blame? Installation by Zamir Suleymanov is looking for the culprit of the Karabakh conflict, and also talks about the geopolitical position of
