ESSENCE is a new project by an emerging artist Schachnas Agayeva that explores sexual behavior as an independent form of human activity, with its sociocultural determinants and psychological motives. The artist makes human nature the main subject of her research. In her new series of graphic works, Schachnas tries to studies the very essence of human sexuality, as a cultural and social phenomenon. In today's world, where geographical and socio-cultural borders are gradually eroding, our gender identity becomes blurred as well. Our sexuality becomes a field for brave experimentation and self-actualization.
Sexual attraction is viewed by many researchers and artists alike as the main driving force and catalyst of many social processes, while the society itself is becoming more free and tolerant. Our sensuality defines us and our perception of the world, our immediate environment and our essence.
