YARAT Contemporary Art Space is pleased to invite you to the participatory performance called “Front” by Danish artist Christian Falsnaes. The presentation of a unique project will take place at YARAT Contemporary Art Centre on October 1, at 14:00! Performance is at the heart of the work of Christian Falsnaes.

With his exhibition project, “Alibi,” Ali Hasanov has entered a new stage of his creative biography. Seemingly ambiguous, cheeky, and taunting, yet convincing imagery is evident from his very first works, as is his pursuit of his own way, bypassing generic and formal boundaries of the art. Prior works were one-off, splashy utterances embodied in a solo performance, a screening of an animated film with a live “soundtrack” orchestral performance, or a graphics series transposed onto porcelain dishes.

On October 7, 2016 in the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum will be held the opening ceremony of the exhibition titled “The play of varicolored filaments: the collection of the Pirot kilims of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade”. The collection of Pirot kilims at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, as one of the oldest masterpieces in Serbia, includes 169 objects made within the period 1792-1932. 

The first solo exhibition “Facing the Sun” of the young artist Fidan Aliyeva will be held in the Art Gallery of the Museum Center from 7 to 13 October 2016. Despite of her very young age, Fidan Aliyeva has achieved a lot more y that time than many others during the years. Being the author of more than 40 art pieces, young artist strives to learn the visual arts in details and constantly work on herself. The main distinctive feature of her canvases is the completion of compositional solution and its stylistic diversity. She feels the color shades in the most delicate way, giving preference to bright colors.

On the 19th of October The Museum of Modern Art will open the exhibition "It is hot,gagash” by famous Azerbaijani artist Inna Kostina. Inna Kostina was born in Baku in 1962. Since early childhood she has begun to show interest in art. In 1984 Kostina graduated Moscow Art College in memory of the 1905, painting faculty. From 1984 till 1989 she studied at State University of Cinematography. 

On October 21, 2016, at 19:00 "ART Villa" gallery will host presentation of Elshan Ibrahimov’s interactive multimedia installation «Tolerance Simulator». Anyone is welcome to test degree of his/her tolerance towards different cultures. Project is realized in the frames of the “Regional Art and Culture Project in the South Caucasus”, which is managed by the Culture and Management Lab with financial support of the Swiss Cooperation Office for the South Caucasus (SCO). Project is supported by Arts Council Azerbaijan.

From the 19th to the 22nd of October Baku Expo Centre will host the Caspian region’s major event in the construction field - the 22nd Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition, BakuBuild 2016, which will mark the beginning of Caspian Construction Week. This is a long-awaited exhibition for many experts from various countries, as BakuBuild is the most important professional event in the field of architecture and construction, design and maintenance in the region.

World-famous German photographer Theo Allofss “Untamed Africa” solo exhibition will be launched at the Heydar Aliyev Center on October 21, 2016. This exhibition is a collection of Theos 29 photos in Africa displaying the abundance of flora and fauna of this continent over the past 20 years.

YARAT Contemporary Art Centre is pleased to present a major solo exhibition by Columbian-born artist Oscar Murillo. The exhibition, which includes a newly commissioned series of works alongside textiles, paintings, sculptures and videos, continues the artist’s engagement with materials as a means of exploring wider conceptual dialogues surrounding structures of production within a specific geographic context. Most of the elements which make up the exhibition are sourced in Azerbaijan as the result of the artist’s encounters with individuals and communities in the lead up to the exhibition.

YARAT Contemporary Art Space presents Ne Var, Odur– a solo exhibition of an Azerbaijani Artist Faig Ahmed. YARAT Contemporary Art Space presents It is what it is – a solo exhibition that presents six new monumental works exploring gender relations and social structures within traditional Azerbaijani communities. Known for his textile works that build upon and transform the traditional Azerbaijani craft of carpet making, Ahmed started a new body of work drawn from his research into the social habitat of Azeri people living outside the capital Baku.

Baku Museum of Modern Art invites for Eldar Akbarov and Sabina Shikhlinskaya exhibition “DACHA”. The show revolves around the Dachas of Absheron and aims to capture their fast-disappearing essence. While Akbarov presents seemingly detached, documentary style photographs of ruined summerhouses on the shores of Absheron, Shikhlinskaya’s performative installation is a more personal reaction against destruction, loss and oblivion.

Bakutel 2016, the 22nd Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference on Telecommunications and Information Technologies will take place from 29 November–2 December 2016 in Baku. Every year for over 20 years, Bakutel, the largest exhibition in the region, has been bringing together leading players of the communications market. As the main arena for presenting IT products and services, Bakutel has acquired status as the main business platform where contacts are made and new businesses are created. 

HUMANART project is created to determine the potential of talented young people and the development of social art. First event, named "Art without barriers" is the exhibition of 3 talented young artists with disabilities. Museum of Modern Art presents the “Nostalgia, pluralia tantum” Exhibition by a famous Moldavian journalist and artist Vasile Botnaru. Vasile Botnaru was born on the 12th of January 1957 in a rural teacher’s family. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism in Chi?in?u and in Moscow (Lomonosov Moscow State University). He worked in all types of press related jobs. At present Vasile Botnaru is engaged in radio journalism. He is also a head of the Radio Liberty office in Chi?in?u. He is also a lecturer at the Journalism Faculty.

When there is a discussion on contemporary art, the ordinary viewer implies this phenomenon – as if it was newly established... It is both true, and false.
