Aida Mahmudova Solo Exhibition: Non-imagined Perspectives

YARAT presents a solo exhibition of new works by Azerbaijani artist and founder of YARAT, Aida Mahmudova and new and seminal archive works by Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto. Across the top floor of the exhibition space, the artist has produced an entirely new body of work that builds on her exploration of material as a tool for experimentation.

Central to the exhibition is Pistoletto’s 2003 text "Terzo Paradiso" ("Third Paradise"), a manifesto for a harmonious future where nature and society coexist. "Third Paradise" states the social responsibility to seek a more sustainable world, "leading everything that is artificial; that is science and technology together with art; to give back life to Earth".

Reincarnation project

On April 18, the opening ceremony of the Intertwining of Time exhibition will be held in the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum within the framework of the Reincarnation project with the support of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. The goal of the exhibition is to reveal a modern view on Azerbaijani carpets, the vision of carpet elements and, in general, the display of the carpet in the artist’s imagination.

Exhibition "On The Trace Of Traditions"

On May 4, the official opening ceremony of On The Trace Of Traditions exhibition, dedicated to the May 5 ˗ Day of Carpet Weavers, will be held at the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. Schachnas Agayeva's exhibition

ESSENCE is a new project by an emerging artist Schachnas Agayeva that explores sexual behavior as an independent form of human activity, with its sociocultural determinants and psychological motives. The artist makes human nature the main subject of her research. In her new series of graphic works, Schachnas tries to studies the very essence of human sexuality, as a cultural and social phenomenon.

Exhibition "Labour, Leisure and Dreams: 1960s-1980s Through the Eyes of Azerbaijani Masters"

YARAT Contemporary Art Space presents an exhibition of works by leading Azerbaijani painters Mikayil Abdullayev, Rasim Babayev, Sattar Bahlulzade, Gennady Brijatyuk, Nadir Abdurahmanov, Kamal Ahmed, Ujal Hagverdiyev, Igor Zhuk, Javad Mirjavadov, Boyukagha Mirzazade, Ashraf Murad, Toghrul Narimanbekov, Nadir Gasimov, Eldar Gurban, Maral Rahmanzade, Altay Sadigzade, Ogtay Sadigzade, Tahir Salahov, Khalida Safarova, Mahmud Taghiyev, Taghi Taghiyev, Farhad Khalilov, Gayyur Yunus at the Museum of XX-XXI Century Azerbaijani Painting.

"Bodily Landscapes" group exhibition

YAY Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of "Bodily Landscapes" group exhibition. Participants: Eldar Gurban, Mir Nadir Zeynalov, Niyaz Najafov, Aida Mahmudova, Amrulla Israfilov. The human body and the landscape share the same course, both subjects have been analysed, reduced, taken apart and again assembled serving as artistic content material as well as for exploration of different techniques and styles throughout the history of art. For a long time, the male gaze dominated whilst the female body has been used as muse object, however, in recent development the female gaze paved its way equally.

Shilpa Gupta’s exhibition

YARAT Contemporary Art Space announces a solo exhibition by internationally renowned Indian artist Shilpa Gupta. The exhibition takes its departure point from the central piece: a new, large-scale multi-channel sound installation which gives voice to 100 poets who have been jailed over the centuries for their writing or political alignments. Exhibited alongside other new drawings and sculptures, the works highlight the fragility and vulnerability of our right to freedom of expression today.

Future Shorts Film Festival

We are delighted to invite you to the largest short film festival! The screening will be organized as a part of YARAT Film Club. This festival covers 40 countries, 100 cities, 6 continents and offers 1,400 showings per year throughout the world. During its 12 years existence, the festival has gained the attention of movie fans over a huge territory from Finland to Mexico. The festival gives an opportunity for professionals and newcomers all over the world to become a part of an international cinematographic community.
